Juice Recipe: Carrot, Orange & Ginger

When I was 21, I traveled to Australia with two of my best friends. Rather than touring the Australian continent, we fell in love with Sydney and stayed there for almost a whole year. One of the things I enjoyed was visiting the city’s juice bars. The very first time I ever went to one was on a hot sunny day as I was walking down Oxford Street.

There were so many choices on the menu and I wasn’t sure what to pick, when I heard the guy in front of me order a Carrot, Orange & Ginger juice. I thought yeah, that sounds nice! It was hydrating and sweet with a bit of a kick. I’ve loved this juice ever since.

Ingredients (to make 900ml approx.)

  • 10 clementines
  • 5 carrots
  • chunk of ginger

Method

  1. Peel the oranges and carrots
  2. Chop carrots in half
  3. Juice the oranges and pour juice into separate container
  4. Juice the carrots and ginger
  5. Strain the carrot and ginger juice through a sieve
  6. Combine carrot and ginger juice with orange juice

My preferred juicer is the Omega VRT350HD which makes relatively pulpy juice. I’ve got a thing about bits in juice. Some juices, like orange juice, I want bits. Others, like carrot juice, I want smooth. If you don’t mind a bit of carrot pulp in your juice then skip step 5.
